Paying for sessions
We are an out-of-network practice which means we don’t bill insurance. Clients pay us directly at the time of service.
If you intend to seek insurance coverage
Music therapy is rarely covered. Where a plan does cover it, coverage generally has to be set up before therapy begins: a physician prescribes music therapy with a diagnosis code they’ve assigned, and treatment is provided under HCPCS code G0176 — activity therapy, 45 minutes or more per session. Prior authorization is usually required.
That’s a conversation to have with your doctor before your first session with us, not after. Sessions shorter than 45 minutes don’t meet the threshold for this code.
Common Questions
Do you take insurance?
No. We’re a private-pay practice and payment comes directly from you at the time of service. If you’re pursuing coverage, your physician has to prescribe music therapy against a diagnosis code before you start — see the note above.
Do I pay for the first call?
No. The consultation is free and carries no obligation. You’re only charged once an assessment session is scheduled.
Do I need a diagnosis or a referral to start?
No. You don’t need either. Bring a description of what’s going on and we’ll take it from there.
Is there a minimum number of sessions?
No. Most clients come weekly because that’s what works, not because they’ve committed to a block.
Is there any help with the cost?
Tell us on the consultation call. Adjusting session length or frequency is usually the most practical lever, and a shorter session every week often does more than a long one every month.
What if we need to pause?
Tell us. Holidays, hospital stays, and rough patches are normal. We’ll hold your slot where we can and say so plainly when we can’t.
